Whiterun is one major city in Skyrim located in the center of the region. The highest mountain on Tamriel, Throat of the World, is located to the southeast of Whiterun. Whiterun becomes the center for commercial activities due to its strategic location. However, its central location also makes Whiterun a critical point in the war between the Imperial and Stormcloaks.
