Anders Celsius

Anders Celsius was born in Uppsala, Sweden, on November 27, 1701. Anders Celsius was an astronomer who invented the Celsius temperature scale, the most widely used in the world today. Celsius is recognized larger percentage, for leaving us such useful invention in society, as has been the centesimal thermometer scale.

This instrument during the sixteenth century was graduated as "cold" by placing it in a cave and "hot" exposing to the rays of the summer sun or warm skin of a person, until Reaumur and Fahrenheit so graduated based on the temperature of the ice its melting point and the water vapor by boiling.

Therefore varied according to their native country, as has been established in the German scale of 32-212 degrees, while the French did to 0-80 degrees.

It was in 1742 when Celsius scale proposes replacing other German scientist whose management was easier, more convenient and of course a centesimal scale from 0-100 degrees. On this scale, 0 corresponding to the temperature point coincide with the freezing point of water, while the temperature at 100 ° C was equal to the boiling point of water at sea level.

This, therefore, indicated a temperature drop as the heat increased, unlike as is currently known.

The Celsius temperature scale was proposed in a report submitted to the Swedish Academy of Sciences, and thus the Celsius thermometer is widely known for years as "Swedish thermometer" by the scientific community, and only the name was popularized "thermometer Celsius" from S.XIX.
