A foreigner him/herself, the mediator is a professional who functions as an intermediary between the needs of migrants and the response of public services and NGOs to facilitate the placement of foreign citizens into the hosting social context. S/he works respecting neutrality, professional secrecy and equidistant mediation between institution and user (also referred to as “cultural-linguistic mediator”).
