foehn cyclone

A cyclone formed (or at least enhanced) as a result of the foehn process on the lee side of a mountain range. A mid-latitude, north–south mountain range provides the best inducement for this type of development. The Alberta low and the Colorado low of the eastern slopes of the Rockies are good examples. See dynamic trough.
