glass wool
A substance outwardly resembling wool, presenting a mass of fine interlaced filaments. It is made by subjecting furnace slag or certain rocks, while molten, to a strong blast. Being both insect proof and fireproof, it forms a desirable packing for walls, a covering for steam boilers, etc.
